It is Spring at Channel Islands National Park and the islands are full of new life. The bald eagles are hatching and this year there is a record number of breeding pairs on the islands. It has been wonderful to hear of the success the The Institute for Wildlife Studies has been having with the bald eagle restoration project. We didn’t see any bald eagles on this trip, but we did have an incredible day of sea cave kayaking and spotted some other amazing island wild life on Santa Cruz Islands.
We spotted a beautiful elephant seal pup. The little guy enjoyed a nap and then went back into the ocean. A Channel Islands Fox came over to enjoy some shade by the kayaks.
We all enjoyed an inspirational view of the Pacific Ocean on the ride home. It was an amazing day of kayaking and exploration. It is a trip I am sure everyone will remember for a long time.
