I have always been a fan of T.C. Boyle. Greasy Lake is probably the only book from my required high school reading list that is still in my library. I was excited to hear his latest book was about territory near and dear to my heart – California’s Channel Islands National Park. His latest novel is based on recent events on the islands and the controversy surrounding the killing of feral pigs. I am sure it will be another great read. Here is a video of T.C. Boyle discussing his experience on Santa Cruz Island while researching his novel; it has great photos and video footage of the islands.
There are a few more books that you might want to pick up if you are planning a trip to California’s Channel Islands.
1) When the Killings Done by T.C. Boyle
2) Island of the Blue Dolphin by Scott O’Dell
3) Diary of a Sea Captains Wife: Tales of Santa Cruz Island by Margaret Eaton
4) Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana, Jr.
